Collection Management SIG event

The LIBRAS Collection Management SIG and Oesterle Library at North Central College invite you and your colleagues to join us for lunch, a webinar and lively discussion.

What: Attendees will enjoy lunch catered by Panera Bread before watching and discussing a webinar. The program is geared towards middle managers from throughout the library but everyone is welcome to come and learn ways to improve their leadership skills.

Webinar Description: Leadership: What It Means for the Library Middle Managers (An ALA ALCTS Webinar) The middle manager manages up, down, and across the organization. Middle managers are the glue between the vision of senior leadership and the frontline workforce. Your job as a middle manager is to translate vision into action, and you must understand both the work of your unit and the entire organization, with specific insight into how your unit fits in the whole. What leadership skills are needed by th emiddle manager? What role does she or he play in developing the next generation of library leaders? This webinar will discuss these questions and other relating to leadership and the middle manager.

Where: Smith Hall, Old Main, North Central College--on the 2nd floor of #10 on the campus map available at http://www.northcentralcollege.edu/Documents/admission/campus_map.pdf. As at many other colleges, parking can be challenging when classes are in session. Parking on all streets surrounding campus is free for up to 4 hours. If the weather is nice, you may also consider parking at the City of Naperville Central Parking Garage (also free--see campus map), which is located 5 blocks from Old Main.
