Please join us Wednesday, February 29, at North Park University for a LIBRAS Technical Services SIG event. We will share ways that LIBRAS libraries are using technology tools to improve workflows, increase efficiency, and save time! Some of these tools we plan to discuss – MacroExpress, MarcEdit, and Shelflister – have been introduced through CARLI events or email notices. This event will extend that learning by showing how other small, academic libraries have begun using these tools and will provide an opportunity for discussion and questions. Furthermore, there will be time and support to actually give some of these tools a “test drive” in a lab setting. We are especially excited about the last tool – Google Hangouts – as a way to continue the conversation and share cataloging and acquisitions ideas among the LIBRAS libraries.
The event will be held at North Park University’s Brandel Library, Wednesday, February 29, 10:00-3:00 (registration begins at 9:30). Lunch is provided. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24. Parking is free and public transportation, via the CTA’s brown line, is another good option.
