  My name is Ken Orenic and I have been a Reference and Instruction Librarian at Dominican University's Crown Library since October, 2006. I currently serve as Dominican's LIBRAS Liaison. LIBRAS provides a valuable forum for members to share their expertise and build professional relationships with other academic librarians. If elected Secretary, I will work to ensure the continued delivery of quality professional development opportunities, strengthen and enhance communication channels and work to increase member involvement.   I work at Trinity International University as the Serials and Electronic Resources Librarian. In the past I was at North Central College as a Serials Assistant. I have enjoyed the trials and tribulations that are an essential part to continuous resources. In the future I look forward to assisting the LIBRAS mission of advancing academic libraries by filling the position of Treasurer.

• Jack Fritts, Benedictine University:
  Good day. I’m Jack Fritts, Director of Library Services at Benedictine University. I am a candidate for Vice President/President-Elect of LIBRAS. I have been involved with LIBRAS for several years and am currently serving as Treasurer. The directors’ Council feels that this is a good time to examine the role of LIBRAS in relation to its four principle goals and the needs of the member institutions. This year’s Executive Committee has spent some time on this topic and I want to be able to continue these conversations and to expand them to the membership at large. I believe there is a need for this organization to continue the work it has been doing, but I also think we need to consider whether there are different approaches to the successful conduct of consortial activities. I am committed to pursuing this review and identifying ways to serve our membership better.

The 2006/2007 LIBRAS elections were conducted by web survey, beginning on April 30, 2007 and ending on May 7, 2007.
