Candidate Statement: I am very honored to have the potential opportunity in serving on the executive board of LIBRAS this upcoming year. It’s a bit of an obvious statement by now that there will be a number of challenges our institutions and libraries will be facing given the impact of the COVID-19 Crisis. No doubt there will be lasting implications that those impacts will have on our students, campuses and libraries through conversations and decisions made about access to technology, enrollment and budgets. That said, LIBRAS, through its ongoing and successful work of community building and training with LKE’s, partnership outreach with RAILS, CARLI, SHMEC, has positioned itself to not only continue its current efforts, but use these existing platforms to find new and meaningful ways of driving conversations about what higher education and academic libraries will be in the post-COVID-19 environment. The opportunities that lie ahead are daunting. But I very much am looking forward to the challenge of finding ways that LIBRAS can continue it’s already successful work into the future.
