Evening / Weekend Library Supervisor

Summary:
The Evening / Weekend Library Supervisor oversees and supervises the library during evening and weekend hours. This includes servicing patrons, maintaining appropriate library environment, overseeing the circulation desk, and supervising student workers. Because this position oversees the closing of the library, the Evening / Weekend Library Supervisor may be required to work until the library closes.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee the circulation desk and its operations, using established policies and procedures.
- Oversee the library generally, maintaining quiet study atmosphere in appropriate areas. Report student behavior problems to Access Services Supervisor and Library Director.
- Supervise student workers.
- Deal with problem patrons, resolve circulation disputes in accordance with established policies and procedures. Refer any disputes not immediately resolvable to Access Services Supervisor.
- Oversee the copy machines/printers: instruct patrons in copy machine/printer use; troubleshoot problems. Inform Access Services Supervisor and Library Director of problems and of need to call for maintenance.
- Maintain the petty cash drawer.
- Empty book drops regularly.
- Oversee preparation of outgoing I-Share interlibrary loan materials and the delivery manifest.
- Oversee the closing of the library: Announce the library is closing; Make sure everyone has left the library; Make sure all windows are closed; Make sure all computers are logged off; Turn off all lights; Make sure elevator security locks on both levels and in elevator are turned on; Make sure library doors are locked.
- May work during weekdays during summers, breaks, etc.
- Work on projects as assigned by Access Services Supervisor.
- Annually evaluate the productivity of student staff and behaviors related to their job performance.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Student workers report to the Evening / Weekend Supervisor

- Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change to meet the changing needs of the department and library.

Required Education and Experience:
- The minimum educational requirement for this position is a bachelor’s degree, or high school diploma with sufficient experience.
- Experience with public services.
- Supervisory experience.
- Computer literacy.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience working in an academic library.
- Experience with an automated circulation system.
Hours:
10-20 hours/week Monday – Thursday evenings, 5:30pm – 11:00pm
