Concordia University and North Park University library staff members are pleased to invite you to the next LIBRAS Knowledge Exchange!
When: Tuesday, December 18, 2018, from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Where: Concordia University (morning) & North Park University (afternoon)
Who:Librarians, LTAs, or other professional staff from LIBRAS libraries
What: LIBRAS Knowledge Exchange (LKE) is a professional development event/series with two primary goals: 1) to enable librarians and professional staff members to learn from colleagues at peer institutions and 2) to foster stronger relationships between LIBRAS libraries.
As part of the visit, Concordia University Chicago and Education/Curriculum Librarian, Jacob Hagan, will highlight the operations of the Christopher Center Resource Center. This satellite location is situated inside the College of Education building and houses the curriculum collection and children’s/young adult literature that accounts for about 25% of print circulation. We will discuss building relationships with faculty, operating in a shared space and collection management. Attendees will also have the opportunity to develop community over a shared meal. Lunch will be funded by LIBRAS and catered by Concordia’s dining staff.
At North Park University attendees will have a chance to select from mini-sessions in which North Park library staff will share what they’re working on in the areas of teaching, user experience, archives, and tech services. To close the day, North Park invites attendees to enjoy their campus tradition of “Fika and Friendship”—a traditional Swedish treat and time for open conversation.
RSVP by December 10th to attend! Additional details (directions, parking instructions, etc.) will be sent to attendees closer to the date of the event.
