LIBRAS President Cathy Mayer has been appointed as Director of the Donnelley and Lee Library at Lake Forest College, effective June 1, 2020.
Davis Schneiderman, Krebs Provost and Dean of the Faculty at Lake Forest College, made the announcement on January 9. In a letter to the campus community, he described Cathy as “a strong collaborator and communicator with a track record of staff development and of building relationships within the library, across campus, and beyond.”
Cathy has more than a decade of experience in an array of library settings, including higher education, K-12 schools, and public libraries. A native of Illinois, Cathy holds a Bachelor Degree in Communication from Olivet Nazarene University and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois. She is currently pursuing an additional degree through the University of Illinois’ iMBA program.
Cathy comes to Lake Forest College from Trinity Christian College where she has served as Director of the Jennie Huizenga Memorial Library since 2015. “During Cathy’s four years at Trinity,” wrote Provost Aaron J. Kuecker in a letter to the Trinity community, “she has established the library as a hub for our campus and as a key collaborative partner for many departments and initiatives. She has also sought creative ways to re-purpose library space in order to foreground student utilization and student experience. All of this she has accomplished with warm collegiality, good humor, and a relentless commitment to her staff and our students.”
Cathy will depart Trinity Christian College at the end of May to step into her new role at Lake Forest College.
