Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the University Librarian is responsible for the overall management, leadership, and advocacy of the Rebecca Crown Library. The University Librarian supports and leads faculty librarians and library staff in the mission and vision of the library and learning commons through advocacy, professional development, mentorship, and inclusion. The University Librarian plans and oversees the library budget. A commitment to the Dominican University mission, vision, and strategic plan is required. The University Librarian will demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm in providing compassionate service and equal access to services, resources, and facilities to all library users and will actively support cultural competencies, diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education and library services.
The University Librarian advocates for the Library as the center of academic life, innovation, and student success on campus; participates in fundraising efforts for library and archival facilities and resources; and represents the University to various external consortia and associations. Additionally, the University Librarian will support the University’s strategic plan and the academic curriculum of all schools and colleges by providing a robust, state-of-the-art learning environment with equitable access to resources for students, faculty, and staff, and promotes information literacy and librarianship within the University community.
